Coils of Chaos is a weird-fantasy roleplaying game set in the distant future-world of Thaarn (thaw-arn). Sword & sorcery heroics? Yes. Post-apocalyptic survival? Totally. Ancient robots and wild extradimensional lifeforms? You got it. Thaarn covers just about every genre element you could imagine.

As a CRUX Roleplaying system game, Coils of Chaos uses a full set of standard polyhedral dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20), and each character has a single “Crux die,” which is rolled for every test and levels up as they do! Written by Dutchmogul and fully illustrated by Ben Doane, Coils of Chaos comes with all the rules you’ll need to play, and features:

five playable archetypes, including the everyperson, an ordinary person from a world like our own, thrust into the weird future. Gifted with “Story Armor,” an ability that will help them survive (and a curious biproduct of their displacement in time and space?), the everyperson is a special player role around which the other players can rally and experience the strangeness that will ensue through relatable eyes.

  • a Chaos Magic system, where spellcasting is powerful but unpredictable, and may well lead to ruin!

  • tables and effects for random mutations for those exposed to the raw energies of the Chaos Dragon.

  • a full bestiary of extradimensional wildlife that now calls this world home, plus tables for creating random beasts (or otherworldly horrors) on the spot.

  • equipment lists including the primitive weapons of the future-dwelling people of Thaarn, unearthed artifact-tech from the ancient times, and even weapons and armor enchanted by magic or blessed by all-powerful deities.
