7/25: The Highs of Low Fantasy

Dutchmogul here, back with our blog post for the month of July.

Dissent!

Well, this one has certainly been a work-in-progress, but Dissent is finally ready for a proper release! Our monthly supporters got a crack at the beta version last year, and the game in currently on Kickstarter with a store release planned for September. Dissent is a skirmish wargame but it functions as a wealth of content for any medieval/fantasy CRUX game, with tons of new equipment and skill traits that will be at home in any of those games. If you’re looking for some crunchy, low-fantasy/medieval skirmish rules or you just want a host of thematic miniatures and terrain, be sure and check it out.

Tower of Deviltry

Speaking of low-fantasy medieval games, we’ve just launched a free one over on itch.io. Submitted for the 2025 One-Page RPG Jam, Tower of Deviltry is a game about duels between cursed knights, and it function really well as a preview of the core gameplay for Dissent. We’re also working on a bunch of printables for this one, and our Patreon supporters are getting in on that early with some support-free knights being released as our weekly Monday miniatures (a feature that we’ve been doing for years that is now up to a collection of over 300 models).

Rushlight (revival)

To go along with all the medievalry happening above, we’re revamping our horror roleplaying game, Rushlight, to be more compatible with these newest CRUX games. This has been in the works for a bit (we touched on this a few months back) and it’s looking like the updated version will be available before the Dissent rules drop to our storefront.

JULY FREE MINIATURE: Conscript

To go with Dissent (or really any of the games mentioned above), we’ve got a support-free, mace-wielding peasant for your 3d printing pleasure. This lowborn skirmisher is a remix of the oaf from our classic Townsfolke range.

Barlowe and his fellow rabble prepare for a battle with knights of the Church

That’s all for now. Gotta get back to work on all the aforementioned projects. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you back here next month!
